Lufthansa has announced plans to add 10,000 jobs in 2025 as global air traffic continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. The German airline group revealed on Wednesday that it aims to recruit 800 pilots and 2,000 flight attendants, alongside technical experts, ground operations staff, and administrative personnel.

Having cut over 30,000 jobs during the pandemic, Lufthansa has been rebuilding its capacity. About 1,200 of the new hires will join its flagship Lufthansa Airlines, while others will be spread across its subsidiaries, including Austrian Airlines, Swiss, Eurowings, and Brussels Airlines.

Despite the planned hires being fewer than last year’s, the company’s business unit continues to implement a savings program launched in July. Last year, the group hired 13,000 employees, according to board member Michael Niggemann.

The aerospace sector is one of the few in Germany expected to increase hiring this year, as indicated by a study from the German Economic Institute (IW). The Lufthansa group, which also owns the maintenance and repair firm Lufthansa Technik, employs over 100,000 people in more than 90 countries.
