The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route plays a crucial role in ensuring the security of supply chains between Asia and Europe. Kazakhstan and China are deepening their cooperation on this route, with the commencement of the third railway construction from Ayagoz to Tacheng and plans to open a third border railway checkpoint, as announced by Maulen Ashimbayev, the chairman of the Senate, during an official visit to China on January 13.
According to the Senate’s press service, Ashimbayev met with Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, to discuss joint investment projects in various sectors, including industry, energy, transport, the green economy, and agriculture.
In another meeting with Wang Huning, chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Ashimbayev addressed ways to enhance multifaceted cooperation amidst geopolitical tensions, conflicts, and economic challenges. He expressed support for China’s multipolar initiatives on sustainable and global development, highlighting their significant contribution to global security and peace.
During the discussions, Ashimbayev emphasized Kazakhstan’s comprehensive reforms, particularly in political and socio-economic transformations, legislative advancements, and the role of key state institutions.
“In 2024, Kazakhstan adopted 104 laws. This year, we are adopting laws that are important for the development of our economy – the Budget, Tax, Construction, and Water Codes,” he stated.
Wang Huning praised the strong Kazakh-Chinese relations and reaffirmed China’s commitment to deepening cooperation both bilaterally and on the international stage.
